An ancient hermitage church that was founded by soldier-missionaries of the religious order of the Templars. It affords a wonderful broad vista of the Vernedes of Sort. The information panels will tell you the names of some of the plants you find there.
One of the most mythical and magical spots in the Natural Park: a glaciated valley cradled by the highest summits of the Catalan Pyrenees, at the foot of the Pica d’Estats, watered by streams that snake down the valley sides.
This was the traditional pass through the mountains for herds of animals and all kinds of travellers in the old days. To the east is the lovely valley of Santa Magdalena, with the Cadí mountain range beyond it. Nearby there is an old stone altar from medieval times.
A natural setting high on the mountainside which offers the visitor sweeping panoramas over the valley of Cardós, the Valleta, or little valley, of Esterri de Cardós, and the upland plain of Nequa.
This is the viewing point you will come across as you walk the circular route of Buiro through the forest of Virós. From here you can see where the three of the now abandoned iron mines of the Vall Ferrera (the Iron Valley) and their forges were located.
An old dovecot tower (a tower with nesting niches for pigeons) that you will come upon if you follow the circular route of the Canerilla. From here you have a bird’s eye view of the town of Rialp and the mountain called the Montsent de Pallars which rears behind it.
You are walking in the footsteps of many generations of smugglers as you make your way through this mountain pass to the spectacular viewing area.
